Two unclaimed bodies cremated

The mortal remains of B B Saha of the National Thermal Power Corporation and M Gupta of the Reliance group were cremated at the electric crematorium at 1030 hours (IST)on Thursday as none of their relatives turned up to claim the bodies.

District magistrate Amit Khare, Indian Airlines officials, members of the Red Cross and some press persons were present at the time of the cremation.

Earlier, the district administration extended the deadline for cremation from 1400 hours on Wednesday to 1000 hours Thursday morning. Advertisements were placed in newspapers and notices displayed in Indian Airlines offices throughout the country regarding the two unclaimed bodies.
