NC meet may be put off as Farooq's mother expires

E-Mail this report to a friend Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Begum Akbar Jahan, mother of Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, passed away this morning after a long illness. She was 84.

The death may lead to the postponement of a crucial meeting of the National Conference on whether to continue or withdraw from the National Democratic Alliance Government, following the Union Cabinet's rejection of the J&K Assembly resolution on autonomy.
