Teleserial producer Suhaib Ilyasi's wife commits suicide

Anju, wife of teleserial producer Suhaib Ilyasi of 'India's Most Wanted' fame, allegedly committed suicide in Delhi on Monday night following a quarrel between the couple.

Ilyasi told police that he had an argument with his wife late in the evening on Monday after which Anju, 30, stabbed herself. Ilyasi said he took her to a nearby nursing home where he was advised have her admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Doctors at AIIMS declared her brought dead shortly after midnight, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police S M Bhaskar.

Anju, who has a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, was married to Ilyasi in November 1993.

Since she had an unnatural death within seven years of her marriage, under the statutory requirements the inquest is being conducted by Preet Vihar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ravi Dadhich under anti-dowry laws.

The SDM visited the couple's flat this morning along with Joint Commissioner of Police R K Nyogi and Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitya Nandan.
