E-Mail this report to a friend

Haryana Governor Mahabir Prasad invited Indian National Lok Dal supremo Om Parkash Chautala on Saturday to form a new government in the state.

The governor extended the invitation to Chautala when the latter called on him at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday evening to stake his claim to form the government.

Chautala submitted a letter to the governor of the newly-elected party legislators, endorsing his unanimous election as INLD legislature party leader.

The governor will administer the oath to Chautala at Daronacharya stadium at Kurukshetra at 11 am on March 2.

Earlier in the day Chautala was unanimously elected leader of the 47-member INLD legislature party. The INLD has bagged 47 seats in the just-concluded elections.

The INLD-BJP alliance has secured 53 seats in the 90-member state assembly elections to which were held on February 22.
