Congress promises Vananchal

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress would pressurise the Union government to ensure the introduction of the Bihar State Reorganisation Bill in the Budget session, Congress general secretary Mohsina Kidwai has said.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Kidwai said the Congress would ensure the realisation of the Vananchal demand if it formed the next government in Bihar.

Her party had a bitter experience in the past with the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar and had decided not to repeat the mistake in future, she said.

Holding the regional parties responsible for the emergence of the communal forces in the country, she said the so-called third force had weakened the fight for secularism, waged by the Congress across the country.

Criticising the government at the Centre, she said all possible efforts were being made to saffronise the system.

Even the permission granted to the government employees in Gujarat to participate in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayemsevak Sangh was part of this conspiracy, she said.

Lashing out at Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for supporting the Gujarat government's stand, she termed as unfortunate Vajpayee's statement that the RSS was a cultural organisation.
