PM to campaign in Haryana on Feb 11

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will undertake a day-long election tour of Haryana on February 11 and address at least two public meetings at Palwal and Mehendergarh from where senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ram Vilas Sharma is seeking re-election to the state assembly.

Other senior leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance including Defence Minister George Fernandes and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will also campaign for the Indian National Lok Dal and BJP candidates for the February 22 assembly elections in the state. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will also campaign for the alliance, INLD working president Om Parkash Chautala told the media last night.

Describing the resignation of 10 ministers on Friday as a ''healthy practice for democracy'', he said the ministers were not given party tickets.

HE said the INLD-BJP candidates will face a challenge from the Congress nominees and that Bansi Lal's Haryana Vikas Party will be nowhere in the contest.
