Crime Branch sleuths
question Salman Khan

Crime Branch sleuths Saturday questioned film actor Salman Khan, diamond trader and financier Bharat Shah and directors Abbas and Mastan of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke in connection with the underworld-filmdom nexus.

Police sources said that they arrived at the crime branch office at the Bombay police headquarters at Crawford market amid tight security.

They were questioned in detail by an investigating team lead by assistant commissioner of police (detection) Shankar Kamble.

The producer of the film Nazeem Rizvi was arrested on December 13 and the next day remanded to police custody till December 27 by a special court presided over by additional sessions judge A P Bangale.

He was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999.

City police chief M N Singh said that the new Act has given them the reach to tackle various crime which may not have been covered under the Indian Penal Code or Criminal Procedure Code.

Diamond trader Bharat Shah, who is a part financier of the film, was questioned again by the crime branch to investigate the source of funds. Directors Abbas and Mastan were also interrogated as was Salman Khan, who plays the lead role in the film.

Meanwhile, the city police seized negatives of the film and it will take time for the film to see the light of the day.
