MCC kills abducted BDO

A block development officer of Jharkhand was on Wednesday killed by banned Maoist Communist Centre activists and his body found at Japur village under Itkhori police station in Jharkhand's Palamau district, a top police official said.

Nawal Kishore Prasad, the BDO of Gidhaur block, was abducted by heavily-armed MCC activists on Sunday when he went to conduct the pulse polio immunisation programme at Kirkia village, Deputy Inspector General of Police Parvez Hayat said.

Raids are on at various places in Palamau and adjoining Chatra districts to nab the killers, he said.

Prasad is the second official to fall prey to extremist-related violence in Jharkhand during the past one-and-a-half months. The extremists had earlier killed Lohardagga superintendent of police Ajay Kumar Singh.

Archana Sharma, wife of Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Dipak Prasad, also fell to the extremists' bullets.

A report from Jehanabad said one person was killed by the banned MCC at Hajipur village under Kinjer police station on Tuesday night, police sources said.

The police said, around 20 to 25 heavily armed MCC ultras swooped on the village and abducted Kamlesh Kumar, who was later killed.

Kumar is believed to be a People's War Group sympathiser, the police said, adding a combing operation has been launched to apprehend the killers.
