Impasse ends, LS to discuss Ayodhya issue

The week-long deadlock in the Lok Sabha over the Ayodhya issue ended Wednesday with Speaker G M C Balayogi announcing in the House that a motion entailing voting to discuss the matter would be taken up after Question Hour.

Balayogi said the motion under rule 184 calls upon the prime minister to drop three of his ministerial colleagues, L K Advani, M M Joshi and Uma Bharti, against whom prima facie charges have been found to exist for their involvement in the demolition of Babri Masjid and disapproves of the stand of Atal Bihari Vajpayee seeking to exonerate them.
