NCP seeks PM's resignation

Nationalist Congress Party on Saturday sought the resignation of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his 'blatant fascist statement' on the Ayodhya issue.

Party general secretary Tariq Anwar, in a statement in New Delhi, said it was 'unbecoming' of the prime minister to comment on an issue which was sub-judice. It was also intended to subvert the process of law and judiciary and against the oath he took to honour the Constitution and his functioning as prime minister, he said.

"Vajpayee is playing the communal card to hide his failures on major issues and divert the attention from the plight of farmers, price rise and unemployment," he added.
