Dr Rajakumar cautions against any rescue bid
Kannada film icon Dr Rajakumar, who is being held hostage by forest brigand Veerappan, has warned against any attempts to rescue him.
In a message, sent through a video cassette brought to Madras by journalist-emissary R R Gopal Thursday morning, Dr Rajakumar said it would be improper if the police launched a rescue mission.
Dr Rajakumar's message, addressed to Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna and his Tamil Nadu counterpart M Karunanidhi, was telecast by private Kannada channel Udya TV.
"They (the Veerappan gang) will escape since they know the terrain very well. We (the hostages) will get trapped," Dr Rajakumar said.
He also appealed to the Kannada Film Industry to resume normal activities, which remained suspended following the actor's abduction.
"I felt bad that the industry has come to a standstill rendering thousands of people jobless. It should not happen. Shootings should resume," the thespian said.
Dr Rajakumar requested Tamil super star Rajnikanth to visit his residence in Bangalore and speak to his sons Raghavendra and Shiva Rajakumar.
