Vajpayee to meet Gore, Bush in US

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will meet presidential aspirants Al Gore and George Bush during his 13-day visit to the US, which would start with his address to the UN Millennium Summit in New York on September 8.

While vice-president and Democratic candidate Al Gore would be hosting a lunch for Vajpayee on September 15 when the prime minister would meet President Bill Clinton, Republican nominee Bush is also expected to have a meeting with the Indian leader.

Vajpayee will hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders, a foreign office spokesman told reporters on Thursday. Details of the engagements were being worked out.

Vajpayee, leading a high-power Indian delegation, will address the Asia Society annual dinner in New York besides having an interactive session with the business community.

During his stay, he will also attend a function organised by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and a meeting by the India-America Association.
