Boy beaten to death for plucking flower in UP

Nagar panchayat chairman Shabbir Ahmad allegedly beat to death a 13-year-old boy in Bareilly on Wednesday, for plucking a flower from his garden in Lucknow.

The district magistrate of Bareilly has seized the powers of Ahmad and efforts are on to arrest him, official sources said.

The Uttar Pradesh SCs and STs Commission has ordered the Bareilly administration to file a report under section 302 of the IPC in place of section 304. It also asked the district police chief of Bareilly to be present before the commission on August 11 next, S D Bagla, chairman of the commission, said.
