Alert sounded in Uttar Pradesh

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Uttar Pradesh government Thursday sounded an alert in the state in the wake of mass killings of Hindus by militants groups in Jammu and Kashmir.

V K Mittal, the principal secretary (home), told UNI that all district officials have been asked to take every measure to maintain peace.

Three members of a family from Meerut were among those gunned down by militants when they attacked a camp which housed Amarnath-bound pilgrims.

The bodies have already been handed over to their relatives.

Strict security arrangements have been made in Meerut.
