E-Mail this report to a friend

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Eleven more Hindu villagers were gunned down by gunmen in a remote village of Konda Pogal Paristan in the hilly Doda district late last night, top police sources told rediff.com.

The sources said unidentified militants descended on the village and surrounded the homes of local Hindu villagers. They later fired indiscriminately from their automatic weapons, killing the 11 Hindu villagers on the spot. No one has owned responsibility for the killings so far.

Police said it was the handiwork of Kashmiri militants.

Senior police and security force officials in Doda have rushed to the spot. Sources said a major operation has been mounted to nab the killers.
