Hillary sends her lawyers to help Sharief

E-Mail this report to a friend

A team of prominent legal experts from the United States is expected to arrive in Karachi shortly to assist the defence team of Nawaz Sharief in its appeal against the anti-terrorism court judgement of April 6 which sentenced the deposed premier to life imprisonment.

The team belonging to the United States first lady Hillary Clinton will provide technical assistance to the defence team of Sharief while also monitoring the proceedings for the international community.

According to Pakistan laws, no foreign lawyer can practice in the country to defend a Pakistani citizen. The restriction to this effect was imposed first during the late Z A Bhutto's period and later by Sharief himself.

The preliminary hearing of the appeal against the anti-terrorism court ruling will be held on April 18.
