Pakistan may ban 4 political parties

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan's interior minister Lt Gen (retd) Moeenuddin Haider has hinted that the military government was considering a proposal to ban four political parties that were promoting sectarian feelings.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday after returning from London, Lt Gen Haider, however, declined to name the parties against whom action was being contemplated. His reply was in context of the sectarian killings that took place on Tuesday at a village near Pindi Gheb in which 17 people were killed and over 35 injured.

After the recommendations for imposing the ban were finalised, they would be placed before the cabinet.
