Fernandes promises incentives for joining NCC

E-Mail this report to a friend

Defence Minister George Fernandes today said added incentives would be offered to youths to join the National Cadet Corps and more NCC centres would be opened in schools and colleges all over the country.

Addressing a meeting of the consultative committee of his ministry in New Delhi, the defence minister said about 350,000 students were waiting for enrolment into the NCC.

Referring to financial constraints being faced by several states in funding NCC activities, the minister said the country must find some way out.

A meeting of chief ministers, education ministers and finance ministers would be soon called to discuss the issue, he said.
