CBI action against Chandigarh home secretary

E-Mail this report to a friend

Central Bureau of Investigation officials on Monday searched Chandigarh Home Secretary N K Jain's residence on his return from a long sojourn.

Earlier on April 7, a CBI team had raided Jain's residence and sealed it on finding the premises locked.

Jain, however, was not arrested as he had managed an anticipatory bail.

The search comes after the registration of a case under section 120-b of the Indian Penal Code and various sub-sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the home secretary.

The CBI team led by a superintendent of police undertook a thorough search of the house, which ended at about 1815 hours IST. The sleuths refused to disclose any details to newsmen, but they utilised the services of a local jeweller for nearly two hours.

The CBI had seized ''incriminating documents'' from the residences of Chandigarh administration official B K Goel and M K Jain, a close associate of N K Jain, on April 7.

After the allegations of corruption surfaced against him, N K Jain had gone on leave from March 21.
