Water dwindling alarmingly in Cauvery reservoir

E-Mail this report to a friend

The dwindling storage in the Stanley Reservoir across the river Cauvery at Mettur has come down to 34.45 feet this morning.

Meanwhile, the monitoring committee of the Cauvery River Authority would make an on the spot assessment of the delta region in Tamil Nadu later in the day after visiting the Cauvery basin in Karnataka.

The fast depleting water level in the Stanely Reservoir poses a serious threat to the standing crops in the Cauvery delta region as release of water for irrigation might be closed by October 1, due to poor storage.

Inflow into the reservoir was 2024 cusecs against a discharge of 15,000 cusecs.
