JMM-U wants new state before poll

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Ulgulan today threatened to launch an agitation in the region if the Centre fails to announce the formation of the new state before the assembly poll in Bihar.

Addressing newspersons, JMM-U secretary Prabhakar Tirkey said his party wanted the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance to introduce the Bihar State Re-organisation Bill in the winter session of Parliament and ensure the creation of the new state before the assembly poll.

If the BJP fails to honour its commitment, the party would be forced to revive the age-old movement for statehood, he said. He called upon pro-state forces to be prepared for a decisive fight for the creation of Jharkhand.

The party also demanded a separate election for the proposed legislature in Jharkhand.
