India expresses outrage at Lashkar meeting

E-Mail this report to a friend

Outraged by the Pakistan government's decision to let the militant organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba hold its international congregation in Lahore, India on Wednesday said it was clear proof of Islamabad's continued ''support, sustenance and space'' to terrorist groups.

A spokesman of the ministry of external affairs said it was a matter of concern for the international community: "We have to be highly alert."

The Lashkar has also invited Paakistan president A R Tarar and General Pervez Musharraf to attend the three-day congregation. The spokesman said, ''It is evident to all that Pakistan sponsors and supports cross-border terrorism. It is outrageous that a terrorist organisation should be allowed to hold open meetings. Everyone is aware of the activities of the group.''
