Centre to seek foreign aid for cyclone victims

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Centre is taking steps to seek assistance from other countries to mitigate the sufferings of the people of the cyclone-ravaged Orissa.

Disclosing this to newsmen in Tirupati today, Union Minister of State for Agriculture S B P P K Satyanarayana Rao said the Union Cabinet would meet and take a decision on the future course of action for the rehabilitation of the affected people in the state.

He said that an action plan would be formulated soon in a bid to strengthen infrastructure facilities in the traditionally agricultural villages across the country. In an effort to check the migration of farmers to urban areas, the Centre would take all measures, including the provision of machinery, subsidies and remunerative prices to their crops.
