Shireen in Hyderabad

The police have arrested Akbaruddin and Burhanuddin Owaisi, sons of Majlis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen chief and former MP Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, for allegedly opening fire in the air to scare away Majlis Bachao Tahreek activists at Rein Bazaar Chaman in the old city area of Hyderabad a couple of days ago.

The Madannapet police, which registered a case against them and several others in connection with the clash between the MIM and MBT activists late on Friday night, effected the arrest of Akbaruddin and Burhanuddin and produced them before a metropolitan magistrate.

The court remanded them to judicial custody till today. The police seized a .38 revolver from them.

Akbaruddin allegedly opened fire in the air to disperse a group of MBT activists who were engaged in a clash with MIM workers. The incident occurred when Salahuddin Owaisi, who was proceeding in a car along with his sons, got down at Rein Bazaar to talk to his supporters.
