CBI team fails to grill 'harassed' Rabri in Laloo case

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bihar Chief Minister Rabri today refused to cooperate with a nine-member interrogation team of the Central Bureau of Investigation. She accused the Union government of 'harassment'.

The team, led by CBI Deputy Inspector General N C Verma, included two women.

Rabri was to be questioned for the first time in connection with the disproportionate wealth case against her husband and Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav.

CBI sources said Rabri Devi created problems and described the interrogation team as 'a conspirator'.

They added that the time for 'further interrogation' was yet to be fixed.

She figured in the case after her husband had told the CBI that he had taken a loan from her to construct a plush house. Laloo Yadav told the agency that she owned a dairy firm.

The agency lodged a first information report on August 19 last year and carried out search operations at the chief minister's residence within three days. The CBI officers also conducted raids at the houses of the chief minister's brothers simultaneously.
