TN speaker okays MLA's release

Tamil Nadu assembly Speaker P T R Palanivel Rajan today accepted the Madras high court order releasing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham legislator R Thamaraikkani on bail.

Adjourning the house, the speaker said the assembly had decided to await the final verdict of the high court before taking further action in the assault episode.

He said the legislature and the government did not want to confront the judiciary. "We don't want to act in haste on the issue," he added.

He also convened a meeting of legislators tomorrow to discuss the issue in the wake of the court order.
