E-Mail this report to a friend

Tamil Nadu assembly Speaker P T R Palanivel Rajan today referred to the privileges committee a breach of privilege motion against All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham chief J Jayalalitha. The motion was moved by M G Ramachandran-Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham MLA S Thirunavukarasu.

Moving the motion, Thirunavukarasu said Jayalalitha had cast aspersions on the speaker's chair in the AIADMK MLA Thamaraikkani case.

Terming Jayalalitha's allegations as a 'blatant lie', the speaker said motives could not be attributed to the speaker for pronouncing the verdict, which was based on an unanimous house resolution.

"I am bound to no one, except the house. I am loyal to Karunandihi, who is the president of the DMK, my party, only outside the house," he added.
