KLF terrorists surrender

E-Mail this report to a friend

Two terrorists belonging to the Khalistan Liberation Force on March 2 surrendered to the police following a search operation conducted in Sangrur district of the state.

Director General of Police Sarabjit Singh said in a statement that the two terrorists, Manjinder Singh Issi alias Bhushan alias Pappu alias Varaity and Sukhjinder Singh alias Lali, were among the KLF terrorists still not arrested since 1991.

The Punjab DGP said the two had been hiding in the guise of truck drivers at various hideouts across the country.

The police said Issi and his accomplices had kidnapped French Ambassador Rado in October, 1991 in New Delhi to secure the release of Sukha and Jinda, the killers of General A S Vaidya.

According to the police, ISSI confessed to killing of Punjab minister Balwant Singh in the heart of Chandigarh in 1990, while his brother Sukhjinder Singh and others had attacked Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra near Ludhiana the same year.

Issi had managed to give the police the slip when they raided his house in Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) this January.

Issi, Gurjant Singh, Budh Singh Wala and Dr Pritam Singh Sekhon were the senior leaders of the KLF, which did a lot of damage between 1989 and 1993, which marked the peak of terrorism in Punjab.
