Gen Zinni meets Sharief

The chief of the United States Central Command, General Anthony Zinni, today met Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief in an attempt to defuse tensions over the Kargil conflict, officials said.

The meeting lasted about 45 minutes at the prime minister's residence, the sources said, but no other details were available.
