Jaya zeroes in on Sun TV

E-Mail this report to a friend

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham chief J Jayalalitha today alleged that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's family, which runs several private television channels in the south, was resorting to arm-twisting tactics to terrorise cable television operators and gain control over the market.

In a statement in Madras, she alleged that the Sun TV was utilising various government departments in the state to harass the cable television operators.

The operators in Tamil Nadu have been forced to merge with Bombay-based cable television organisations, she alleged.

Operators giving connections to cable television channels were threatened with dire consequences if they did not restrict themselves to channels approved by the Sun TV, she further charged.
