Canadian tourist missing in Kerala found dead

The body of a Canadian tourist, who was reported missing since yesterday near Papanasham beach at Varkala near Trivandrum, was recovered this morning.

The man was identified as Witold Nicholas (29) of Ontario.

Nicholas, who came to India on November 25, 1998, was an inmate of Vallikavu Ashramam run by Amritananda Mai near Quilon and came to Varkala yesterday.

After handing over his passport and other belongings to his fiancee, Eith Lovis (20), a Dane, he went for a bath at 1200 hours IST, police said.

When he failed to return, his fiancee informed the police. The body was recovered after an intensive search.

After a post-mortem at the Trivandrum Medical College, the body was kept embalmed. Nicholas's relatives have been informed through the Canadian embassy in New Delhi.
