Tohra's petition against SGPC meet dismissed

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Punjab and Haryana high court today dismissed a writ petition moved by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee president Gurcharan Singh Tohra, challenging an order of the Sikh Gurdwara judicial commission to convene a meeting of the SGPC executive committee today.

An order to this effect was given by a division bench, comprising Justices G S Singhvi and Amar Dutt this afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the bench had reserved its judgment after hearing arguments of both the parties in the case.

Dismissing Tohra's petition, the bench held that the judicial commission had a jurisdiction to call a meeting of the SGPC executive. Its jurisdiction was in order, the bench observed in its judgment.
