Eight hurt in group clash at Chikmagalur

At least eight people were injured in a group clash following a dispute over the conduct of the annual puja and jatra festival at Dantaramakki village near Chikmagalur today.

The police said the trouble started when a group carrying a kalasha asked another group to make way for the procession of goddess Kerekodamma. This resulted in a clash.

The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Two people have been arrested. The injured were admitted to the government hospital in Chikmagalur.
