E-Mail this report to a friend

The dawn-to-dusk Jharkhand bandh called by the pro-state forces today remained peaceful so far evoking a spontaneous response. Major business establishments remained closed while vehicular traffic was comparatively thin in Ranchi in the headquarters town of the Jharkhand Area Autonomous Council.

According to official sources no untoward incident has been reported from any part of the Jharkhand region so far. More than a dozen bandh activists were detained by the police on charges of disturbing peace. Meanwhile, a report reaching the police control room in Ranchi said that some bandh supporters had tried to force the closure of the power sub-station near Tatisilwai.
