VHP demands white paper on foreign missionaries

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today demanded a white paper on the activities of foreign missionaries in India and said the issue would be discussed threadbare at a three-day convention of its top leaders at Rameshwaram. VHP General Secretary Acharya Giriraj Kishore said the issue and many other subjects concerning national security would be discussed at the meeting of the VHP governing council and the board of trustees to be held on January seven, eight and nine next year.

He accused foreign missionaries of spreading subversion in the country and funding terrorist outfits, particularly in the northeast, and warned that the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence's activities in the country were fast increasing. On the situation in Jammu and Kashmir he said a ''demographic change'' was taking place in Jammu city as a result of which Hindus were being driven out from its peripheries. He alleged that the government of Dr Farooq Abdullah was ''conniving'' with such forces. ''The area is being made into a Muslim area in a planned manner,'' he said and warned of a ''Kashmir-like situation in Jammu.'' The VHP leader said a similar convention of the Bajrang Dal would also be held in Bhopal on February 18, 19 and 20 to deliberate on matters of national security. The convention would be attended by more than 10,000 workers of the Bajrang Dal from all over the country.

The VHP leader said the government would shortly be bringing out a white paper on ISI activities in India. Citing the instance of the seizure of 3,100 kilograms of RDX at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh recently, he said the incident needed a thorough inquiry. The frequent bomb blasts in trains and buses and attacks on security forces in Kashmir had serious dimensions. The Bajrang Dal workers would deliberate on all such issues and decide on a plan of action to increase public awareness. It would also discuss the need to increase the number of single-teacher schools, run by the VHP, in border areas.
