Talk on the 'Midas Touch'

SANTA CLARA -- The Midas Touch: Inspiring saga of creating and mentoring world-class technology companies and creation of wealth through vision and innovation is the subject of a dinner event being organized by The Indus Entrepreneurs on December 14.

To be discussed are the stories of Cerent (acquired by Cisco for $ 6.9 billion), Stratumone (acquired by Cisco for $ 435 million), and Siara, (in the process of being acquired by Redback for $ 4.7 billion), Story of I-manage.com (IPO), Everest Design Automation (acquired by Synopsis), and Liquidmarket.com (acquired by NBC Internet).

The speakers are Raj Singh and Raj Parekh, general partners and co-founders, Redwood Venture Partners. They are also TiE Charter Members.

Raj Singh is co-founder and chairman of Roshnee Corporation. He was the founder and former CEO of successful start-ups like Stratumone Communications, Cerent Corp, Advancel and InterHDL. He is also a member of the board of directors of PulseCore, Xpedion, Webscope,WebByPhone and NetProspect.

Singh holds a master's in computer science from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and BS in electrical engineering from Roorkee University.

Parekh has over twenty years of management experience and track record of providing leadership and strategic planning. He has been a part of over 40 hi-tech start-up investments. He was vice-president of engineering and chief technology officer at Sun Microsystems. He was also the general manager of Java products at Sun Microelectronics. He was a co-founder of Silicon Graphics Inc. He serves on the board of numerous companies like Tharas Systems, Campio Communications, PulseCore, Jedi Technology, PatternRx and Magma.

He holds a masters in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of NY. He received his BE/BS in Electrical Engineering from the L D College of Engineering.

The event starts at 6:30 pm at Santa Clara Marriott Hotel, 2700 Mission College Blvd, Santa Clara; (408) 988-1500.

Admission charge for members is $ 35 if paid by December 12, $ 45 if later; non-members and guests pay $ 50 if paid by December 12, $ 60 if later.
