Chidambaram, Balasubramanian in TMC list

Former Union ministers P Chidambaram, S R Balasubramanian and Danushkodi Adityan and Pondicherry Home Minister P Kannan figure in the first list of 14 candidates released by the Tamil Maanila Congress president, G K Moopanar, in Madras today for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.

While Chidambaram and Adityan will be seeking re-election from Sivaganga and Tiruchendur constituencies respectively, S R Balasubramanian has been shifted from the Nilgiris to Coimbatore, from where a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate was elected last time.

Another sitting MP, K Krishnamurthy, has been renominated from Mayiladuthurai, where the Congress is fielding Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Film producer and director Muktha Srinivasan will contest from south Madras and will be pitted against former Union minister and ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam nominee, T R Baalu.

Addressing a press conference after releasing the list, Moopanar said the next list of candidates would be announced in a couple of days after finalising seat-sharing among the front partners. The talks being held in this regard were amicable, he added.
