Pak ready to respond to any aggression

Pakistan's top military spokesman, Brigadier Rashid Qureshi has said that the country's forces were prepared to respond to any 'aggressive action from New Delhi' after India shot down a Pakistani naval plane killing 16 people.

''We are taking appropriate measures and some are already in place. We shall be able to cater to any action the Indians might take,'' Brigadier Qureshi told the media.

He claimed several Indian helicopters tried to get close to the crash site.

''It seems they want to get some small pieces of the wreckage which they can then produce as evidence in front of the media and show that the plane had ingressed into their area,'' he said.

He said the crash site would be protected so the wreckage could not be taken away.

''Pakistani forces are fully alert and will not let such a thing happen,'' he said.

He said the Indian fighters shot the plane with air-to-air missiles from their side of the border.

''As to the information available to me at this time the Indian aircraft that fired missiles did not cross over into the Pakistani airspace but we need more investigation into this issue,'' he said.
