E-Mail this report to a friend

River Narmada, swollen by incessant rains in its catchment area and the release of water from Madhya Pradesh, crossed the danger level Wednesday morning at the Golden bridge in Gujarat's Bharuch district.

District Collector Bidyut Swain said that the river was flowing three feet above the mark of 24 feet.

He said as a precautionary measure, 146 persons and 550 animals have been shifted. Boats have been sent to village Sarfudin in Ankaleshwar for the stranded.
