BJP has 4 new candidates for Maharashtra election

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde will contest the state assembly election from the Renapur constituency in his home district Beed.

His name figures in the first list of 53 candidates approved by the BJP's central election committee and announced by Bombay unit president Kirit Somaiya.

Four new faces have been included. Five women candidates, three scheduled caste and four scheduled tribe candidates will contest this time around.

Thirteen ministers in the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government, including Raj Purohit, Prakash Mehta, Daulatrao Aher and Haribhau Bagade, also figure in the list.

The second list, which will include members from the minority community, is expected on August 11.

Of the total 228 seats in the state, the BJP will contest 117 and the Sena 171. The allies have decided to leave 10 seats for independents.
