Nirad Chaudhuri passes away

Nirad C Chaudhuri, the India-born author and scholar who was acclaimed abroad, died in Oxford on Sunday. He was 101.

Nirad Babu had suffered a stroke on July 12. He was recovering when his condition deteriorated further last Tuesday, said Pad Mylvaganam, who has been caring for him for the last two years.

Nirad Babu died peacefully in his bed at the Oxford home, Mylvaganam said. His most noted work was The Autobiography of an Unknown Indian.
