Mulayam confident of alternate government

The Samajwadi Party Saturday authorised its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to hold discussions with 'friendly parties' to form a new government at the Centre.

Yadav was authorised by the SP's parliamenatry party.

There are 20 SP members in the Lok Sabha.

Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party government's fall, Yadav had convened a meeting of his MPs to decide the next course of action. The discussions lasted for about two hours.

Yadav said the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha, of which the SP is a constituent, would disclose its strategy only after meeting with secular parties.

He said there would not be much difficulty in forming an alternative government.
