Akali Dal-B to share seats with BJP in Delhi, Rajasthan

E-Mail this report to a friend

Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal president Parkash Singh Badal has said his party would enter into a seat-sharing agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming assembly election in Delhi and Rajasthan.

Talking to reporters in Moga on Sunday evening, Badal said negotiations were on with its coalition partner at the Centre. "During the last elections we had made a similar request (on seat-sharing) which did not work out. This time we are hopeful that something positive will happen," he said.

Delhi and Rajasthan are among four states that go to the polls on November 25.

When asked about the number of seats his party would demand in the two states, the Akali leader said, "We are yet to finalise a poll strategy."

Referring to the Adampur bye-election in the state, necessitated by the death of Akali minister Sarup Singh last month, the chief minister said his party would field a "suitable" candidate and try its "level best" to win.

Badal said a working committee meeting of the party would be convened to chalk out the poll strategy.
