Bengali actor Anup Kumar dead

Noted Bengali stage and film actor Anup Kumar died of a heart attack at a Calcutta nursing home on Thursday evening.

He was 69.

The veteran actor, survived by his wife, was admitted to the nursing home a few days ago with chest complications.

Best known for his comic roles, Kumar began his career as a stage actor with the Star theatre in the late forties. The 434 films that he acted in include Palatak, Pathe holo deri, Shyamali, Ashirwad, Sasi babur sansar and Sagarika.

The Bengali film industry, Eastern India Motion Pictures Association and various other cine organisations condoled Kumar's death.
