Mansukh Vasava is BJP's candidate from Bharuch
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party tribal politician and former minister Mansukh Vasava today filed his nomination papers at the Bharuch district collectorate for the by-election to the Broach Lok Sabha constituency on November 25.
Vasava was deputy minister for tribal development in the first Keshubhai Patel ministry in Gujarat in 1995. He was also a member of the BJP's state executive committee.
BJP sources said in Gandhinagar that Chief Minister Patel, state party chief Rajendrasinh Rana, a number of ministers and senior politicians were present when Vasava filed his papers.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of BJP MP Chandubhai Deshmukh a few months ago.
There are more than 1,000,000 voters in the Broach Lok Sabha constituency spread in Bharuch district and parts of Surat and Narmada districts of south Gujarat. More than 1,300 polling stations will be set up in the constituency for the November 25 by-election.
