BJP attacks Bhagat's appointment as Congress campaign chief

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bharatiya Janata Party yesterday criticised the Congress for appointing H K L Bhagat, an accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, as chairman of its Delhi campaign committee, and Sajjan Kumar and Dharam Das Shastri as members of the Delhi region election committee.

BJP general secretary M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in New Delhi that the unconditional apology tendered by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the massacre of Sikhs in 1984 was a mockery.

In fact, she had honoured the accused by giving them key positions in the Pradesh Congress Committee and the party's election committee, he said.
