Farooq, Soz decides to bury hatchet
National Conference MP and former Union minister Professor Saifuddin Soz, who had questioned his party leadership's decision to support the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, has been summoned by his chief Dr Farooq Abdullah for urgent consultations to resolve the differences.
A three-member NC delegation, led by state Forest Minister Chaudhry Mohammed Ramzan, was sent to New Delhi for talks with Professor Soz.
After Professor Soz's outburst, the NC working committee had decided to abstain during the vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha. He also decided to follow the party directive in this regard.
Besides Ramzan, Minister of State for Home Ali Mohammed Sagar and legislator Khalid Suharwardhy held detailed discussions with the MP. Source said both the parties have agreed to work for strengthening the organisation.
Professor Soz is reported to have told the delegation that he has no intention of harming the party and still considers Dr Abdullah as his leader.
He will leave for Jammu on Sunday to have a one-to-one talk with Dr Abdullah.
However, the party leadership is still unhappy that Professor Soz chose to air his feelings through the press rather than take it up at the party forum.
