BJP's policies are still not clear: Pilot

Congress leader Rajesh Pilot today said there was still 'suspense' in the country about the direction which will be adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party ruling combine at the Centre.

Participating in the debate on the BJP government's confidence motion, Pilot said a tussle for the portfolios of finance, commerce and other ministries went on for several days in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cabinet. And, unfortunately, the Cabinet berths for agriculture and rural development had not been allocated so far. He said these two ministries were very crucial to the rural India.

Without mentioning any individual, he said those who were involved in corruption cases were accommodated in the ministry. Recalling the telecom scam during the Congress regime, he said then communication minister Sukh Ram, who was involved in the scam, was given the public works department portfolio in the BJP's Himachal Pradesh government.

He demanded an open debate on sensitive issues and urged Vajpayee not to take hush-hush decisions on sensitive issues like abrogation of Article 370, Ayodhya, etc.
