Salvi to contest from Thane

Samajwadi Party's Maharashtra state unit president Rajaram R Salvi will be the candidate for the combined opposition parties in Thane Lok Sabha constituency.

An SP spokesman said that Salvi, who is also the president of the Agri Sena, will contest against Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and sitting MP Prakash Paranjpe.

It will be a one-and-one fight as there is no other candidate in the fray (the Congress has decided not nominate anyone from Thane).

Salvi had lost the last Parliamentary election from Thane.
