It's been a clash between Meenas over the years from this constituency which has mostly stayed with the Congress. In 1962 and 1967 the Congress MP from here was Dhuleshwar Meena, and in 1971 and 1977 it was Lalji Meena of the BLD/JD. In 1984 Alkha Ram of the INC defeated the BJP's Nandlal Meena who, in the next election, defeated the Congress's Bheru Lal Meena. In 1991 and 1996, B L Meena has been elected MP defeating the BJP.
